North American Cyclists in the Spotlight at Tour de France
Eight North American riders will participate in the 2023 Tour de France, including Neilson Powless, Sepp Kuss, Quinn Simmons, Matteo Jorgenson, Kevin Vermaerke, Lawson Craddock, Michael Woods, and Hugo Houle. While their main task is to support their team's general classification (GC) leader, they also have the potential to go for stage victories. The last North American to win a stage at the Tour was Hugo Houle in 2022. Three of the US riders will also compete for the best young rider classification, but Tadej Pogačar has dominated that distinction for the past three years.
