Two brothers, Taylen and Wyatt Brooks, were involved in a fatal mountain lion attack while antler shed hunting in a remote area in Northern California. Taylen died in the attack, while Wyatt suffered traumatic injuries to his face. Deputies found Taylen on the ground next to the mountain lion and fired their weapons to ward off the animal. The last fatal mountain lion attack in the state was in 2004. The Brooks family released a detailed account of the attack and expressed gratitude for the support. Plans for a memorial for Taylen are being worked on, and a support fund has been created for the family.

The strongest winds will be in the western Sacramento Valley, gusting up to 25 to 30 mph. Skies will clear and winds will ease by tonight.
