Breakthrough: Achieving Photo-Induced Superconductivity on a Chip

Researchers at the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD) have successfully demonstrated the integration of photo-induced superconductivity on a chip. By using on-chip non-linear THz spectroscopy, they were able to observe non-linear current changes in the optically excited material, revealing critical current behavior and the Meissner effect, which are key features of superconductors. This breakthrough opens up possibilities for opto-electronic applications and the development of new devices based on non-equilibrium superconductivity.
