Sudan Conflict Sparks Concern and Truce Amid Civilian Rule Commitment
The conflict in Sudan is causing concern for its neighbours due to shared Nile waters, oil pipelines, and the potential for a new humanitarian crisis. Five of Sudan's seven neighbours have faced political upheaval or conflict themselves in recent years. The fighting in Khartoum has derailed an internationally backed plan for a transition to civilian rule after the 2019 removal of Omar al-Bashir.
