Toheeb Jimoh on Playing High-Profile Nigerian Characters in Ted Lasso and The Power.
Toheeb Jimoh, a British-Nigerian actor, intentionally plays two Nigerian characters in currently airing shows, "Ted Lasso" and "The Power." Jimoh said he loves having the opportunity to tell Nigerian stories and show them in a different light. In American and British popular culture, Nigeria has been frequently reduced to scam depictions that contribute to racist stereotypes. Jimoh hopes to add his own sauce to the narrative and bring all the joy and good stuff that he has seen being on the inside of it to the screen.
