"Celine Dion's Music Sparks Turmoil in NZ Town"
Residents of Porirua, a town in New Zealand, have launched a petition to end the late-night "siren battles" where car drivers blast out Celine Dion's ballads at 2am. Participants claim it is a way to express themselves, using sirens typically used for emergency warnings to play music the loudest and clearest. The battles have caused noise disturbances, prompting the petition. While some defend the hobby as a safe alternative to clubbing, others argue for their right to sleep undisturbed. The Porirua City Council had previously reached an agreement to limit the battles to industrial areas until 10pm, but they have returned to the town.
