Tescha Hawley, a member of the Gros Ventre tribe, founded the Day Eagle Hope Project to help cancer patients and their families on the Fort Belknap Reservation in Montana. Inspired by her own battle with breast cancer, Hawley provides transportation, gift cards, and support workshops to those in need. She also addresses food insecurity by delivering fresh and healthy food to the community, including organic beef and buffalo meat. Additionally, she runs programs for crisis and addiction, offers equine therapy for at-risk youth, and provides firewood to Native elders. Hawley estimates she has helped around 3,000 people on her reservation and neighboring tribes.
