Iranian journalist faces trial over coverage of Mahsa Amini's death and protests.
The trial has begun for one of the two female journalists who reported on the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurd who died in custody last year. The journalists, Niloufar Hamedi and Elaheh Mohammadi, could face the death penalty after being detained for covering Amini's death and its aftermath. The two women were charged with propaganda against the state and conspiring against national security. During last year's protests, thousands were arrested and hundreds killed, including dozens of security personnel.
