Sweden has raised its terrorist alert level to the second highest after thwarting attacks following Koran burnings and other acts against Islam's holy book, which have outraged Muslims and triggered threats from jihadists. Anti-Islam activists have damaged several copies of the Koran in Sweden and Denmark, leading to condemnation from the Muslim world. The SAPO security service raised the threat level due to calls from Hezbollah, al Shabaab, and al Qaeda to carry out acts against Sweden. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson confirmed arrests had been made in Sweden and abroad in connection with planned attacks. The Swedish armed forces have also raised their alert level, and both the UK and the US have warned their nationals against traveling to Sweden.
