While Eddie taught him drums, Wolfgang learned guitar by himself, using guitar tabs and learning songs by his favorite bands. He emphasized the importance of developing his own style rather than being a copy of his father. Wolfgang's self-taught skills eventually led him to join Van Halen as their bassist in 2007.
