"Winter Storm Brings Foot of Snow to Colorado, Prompts Mt. Bachelor Closure"
A major winter storm is expected to bring up to a foot of snow in the Bend area and much more at higher elevations in Central Oregon, followed by bone-chilling cold and sub-zero wind chills. Mt. Bachelor closed due to extreme winds, with gusts reaching 91 mph, and a wind chill watch has been issued. The storm is forecasted to bring about a foot of snow and winds gusting to 45 mph, making travel very difficult. Additionally, the east slopes of the Cascades are expected to see 16-40 inches of snow and winds gusting to 60 mph. The cold arctic air will arrive on Friday night and stay until Tuesday, with temperatures plummeting and wind chill values reaching sub-zero range.
