UFC 290 Fighter Saved by Life-Saving MRI, Forced Out of Bout with Rare Brain Disease
UFC fighter Josiah Harrell was removed from UFC 290 due to an abnormality found on a routine pre-fight brain MRI, which diagnosed him with Moyamoya disease, a rare condition that can cause clotting at the base of the brain. Harrell's manager believes the MRI may have saved his life and stated that he will undergo brain surgery soon. This is not the first time a UFC prospect has been diagnosed with Moyamoya during pre-debut testing. Harrell remains on the UFC roster despite being removed from the online rankings.
