Vermont Braces for Devastating Floods as Winooski River Rises
Heavy rain and mountain snowmelt caused significant flooding in Waterbury, Vermont, just five months after the last flood. The water level reached its third-highest mark in town, only below the floods caused by Hurricane Irene in 2011 and July 2023. Homes and businesses were flooded, and emergency crews had to rescue people from cars. The water is expected to slowly recede on Tuesday.
