CNU wins first D-III basketball championship on buzzer-beater.
Christopher Newport University won its first NCAA Division III championship in program history after Trey Barber hit a buzzer-beating shot to defeat Mount Union 74-72 in the national title game. Barber finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Jahn Hines added 18 points for the Captains. Mount Union's Christian Parker scored a career-high 31 points, including a game-tying layup with 4.3 seconds left, but it wasn't enough as CNU captured the championship.
