Tragic Deaths of Renowned Mountaineers on Treacherous Peaks
Well-known Russian mountaineer Nadezhda Oleneva has tragically fallen to her death into a crevasse on Mount Dhaulagiri, the world's seventh-highest peak in Nepal. Despite search efforts, bad weather has prevented the recovery of her body. Oleneva was attempting to summit the peak without supplemental oxygen or guides. The Russian Mountaineering Federation expressed their grief over the loss, and this incident follows the recent deaths of two American climbers and two Nepali guides on Tibet's Shishapangma due to avalanches.
