"Recurring Volcanic Eruptions Rock Iceland"
A volcano in Iceland erupted for the second time this year, spewing lava up to 80 meters into the air on the Reykjanes peninsula. The eruption, the sixth in the area since 2021, caused intense earthquake activity and led to the closure of the nearby Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. While the eruption is unlikely to directly threaten the nearby town of Grindavik, authorities have warned of potential risks to the road, power plant, and infrastructure. Despite the volcanic system's threat level being downgraded, further eruptions are anticipated as the land continues to rise due to underground magma accumulation.
