ODU shooting linked to former ISIS supporter with prior conviction
A gunman opened fire at Old Dominion University, killing one person and wounding two others before he was killed. Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, 36, of Sterling, Virginia, has been identified as the shooter; officials say he previously pleaded guilty in 2017 to providing material support to ISIS and was released from prison in 2024. The attack is being treated as terrorism, with authorities noting a prior history of attempting to aid ISIS and to harm US military personnel. Two ROTC students were among the injured, and campus lockdowns and closures followed as investigators worked the case.
