Jackson, Miss. Implements Measures to Prevent Shady Pauper's Grave Burials
The city of Jackson, Miss. has announced a new policy to prevent future instances of failing to promptly notify families after the death and burial of their loved ones, following the cases of Dexter Wade and Marrio Moore. Both individuals were buried in pauper's graves without their families being informed. The coroner's office and the Jackson Police Department claim to have made efforts to contact next of kin, but were unsuccessful. In Wade's case, he was struck by an off-duty police officer's vehicle and had identification on him, raising questions as to why his mother was not notified immediately.
