Tragic Death of New York Dancer from Mislabelled Cookie Allergy
A 25-year-old professional dancer from New York City died after consuming mislabeled Vanilla Florentine Cookies containing peanuts, which were sold at Stew Leonard's stores in Connecticut. The cookies, produced by Cookies United and labeled with Stew Leonard's brand name, also contained unlisted eggs. The woman suffered anaphylactic shock and died on Jan. 11. Stew Leonard's has recalled the cookies, and both companies are pointing fingers at each other for the mislabeling.
