A suspect, identified as 37-year-old Dustin Abraham, was arrested after leading police on a chase through Mishawaka, South Bend, and St. Joseph County in Indiana. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed his vehicle near Grissom Middle School and fled on foot. Abraham was apprehended at a residence and is now in custody at the St. Joseph County Jail.
A 20-year-old man from Mishawaka, Indiana, died from injuries sustained in a crash in Osceola. The man attempted to pass a pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old girl when the accident occurred. The driver of the pickup truck was unharmed and is cooperating with the investigation conducted by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.
Joseph Wood, the son of Mishawaka mayor Dave Wood, was arrested for drunk driving after causing a crash that resulted in a power outage affecting 30 homes in South Bend.
Smiley, a new space-themed park, is set to open in Mishawaka, offering a variety of attractions for both kids and adults. The park features a large arcade with 64 different games, multiple playgrounds including a three-story jungle gym and a giant ball pit, as well as activities like trampoline dodgeball and basketball. Adults can enjoy a climbing wall, a "Nerf Arena," and a restaurant and bar opening in December. Smiley is located at the former ICE Athletic Center.
Christmas Tree Shops, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May, has confirmed that it will be closing all of its locations across the U.S., including the Mishawaka store. The company defaulted on a $45 million bankruptcy loan and will liquidate its remaining 70+ locations unless a buyer emerges. Out-of-business sales could begin as early as Thursday.
