Derek Chauvin, Convicted of George Floyd's Murder, Survives Prison Stabbing

Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd, was stabbed in prison but is expected to survive, according to the Minnesota Attorney General's Office. Chauvin was seriously injured in the assault at a medium-security federal correctional institution in Tucson. The incident occurred on Friday, and responding employees initiated life-saving measures. Chauvin is currently serving a 21-year federal sentence for violating Floyd's civil rights and a 22½-year state sentence for second-degree murder. The Bureau of Prisons has notified the FBI of the assault.
