A maker named [iketsj] has created a handheld Hackintosh, running MacOS on a miniature scale, using the LattePanda Alpha x86 single board computer. The device features a custom expansion board with buttons, a USB hub, a small keyboard, and a display, all mounted on a baseboard. Despite its simplicity, it is a very usable small form factor device that can run MacOS, Linux, or Windows.
German company MNT has released the Pocket Reform, a miniature computer that packs the same open source philosophy and feature set as its full-sized predecessor, the Reform laptop. The Pocket Reform is built with a rigid aluminum chassis and features a 7-inch display, low profile mechanical keyboard, and a diminutive trackball. It accepts the same processor SOMs as the big Reform and has a modern selection of ports, including two USB-C, micro SD, ix Industrial Ethernet port, and micro HDMI. The Pocket Reform starts at $899 and is aimed at niche customers who prioritize openness and interesting design.
