"DLNR Explores Impacts of Mililani Mauka Wildfire on Forest Watersheds and Communities"
The Mililani Mauka wildfire in Hawaii has burned 1,681 acres of steep terrain, including private lands, Kamehameha Schools lands, and the Oahu Forest National Wildlife Refuge. The fire is now 90% contained, with crews working to improve the fire perimeter and identify areas of residual heat. The area is home to at least 22 federally listed species and efforts are underway to develop a post-fire restoration plan.
