Federal probe links Brooklyn councilmember and Hochul aide to migrant-shelter contracts
Federal prosecutors are examining whether Brooklyn Councilmember Farah Louis and her sister Debbie Louis, a Hochul aide, accepted benefits in exchange for actions benefiting BHRAGS Home Care, a migrant-shelter contractor. The search warrant also names Edu Hermelyn and notes Debbie Louis has been placed on leave. BHRAGS has since won more than a dozen contracts for homeless and migrant-shelter services totaling over $200 million. Investigators say a warrant doesn’t guarantee charges.
