"ESA's Arctic Weather Satellite: A Perfect Fit for Climate Monitoring"

The European Space Agency (ESA) has developed and built the Arctic Weather Satellite in just 36 months, with the aim of improving weather forecasts in the Arctic region. The microsatellite, equipped with a 19-channel cross-track scanning microwave radiometer, will provide high-resolution humidity and temperature soundings of the atmosphere. If successful, it could pave the way for a constellation of satellites called EPS-Sterna, which would enable short-range weather forecasting in the Arctic and globally. The satellite is currently undergoing tests in Germany and is scheduled for launch in June 2024.
