Elite US Army Parachutist Dies in Training Jump Accident
US Army Sgt. First Class Michael “Ty” Kettenhofen, a member of the Golden Knights demonstration team, has died following a training jump in Florida. Kettenhofen experienced a "bad landing" during a routine jump and was injured. He had over 1,000 jumps under his belt with the Army and had been awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Army Commendation Medal. The accident is under investigation. The Golden Knights have had several members seriously injured in parachuting accidents over the past five years.
