The Uncertain Future of 'Wheel of Fortune' Hosts
Pat Sajak and Vanna White's run on "Wheel of Fortune" almost didn't happen, as network executives initially did not want Sajak as the host. However, Merv Griffin, the show's creator, fought for Sajak and eventually convinced the executives to hire him. White was also not initially recommended by Sajak to be his co-host, but she eventually won over audiences and became a household name. The duo has been hosting the show for 40 seasons, but Sajak recently announced that the upcoming 41st season will be his last.
