Bay Area Institutions Close Doors After Decades in Business.
Two Oakland restaurants, KC's BBQ and Merritt Bakery, have closed their doors after decades of serving the community. KC's cited exhaustion, inflation, and food costs as reasons for the closure, while Merritt Bakery had struggled with bad luck, including two fires. Additionally, the Starbucks on Lakeshore Avenue has also closed, leaving another vacant storefront in the neighborhood.
