The new Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV will not feature the E-Active Body Control suspension system that allowed the gas-powered Maybach GLS to bounce up and down. Instead, it will have a more traditional air suspension setup with adjustable damping. The E-ABC system is still available in the GLS600 Maybach and as a $6,500 option in the GLS580, but it won't be offered in the EQ electric models.
Mercedes-Maybach has launched its first electric vehicle, the EQS680 SUV, which is based on the EQS SUV. The Maybach 680 has 649 hp and can reach 62 mph in 4.4 seconds, with a range of 373 miles. The focus is on passenger comfort, with eco-friendly vegetable-tanned leather, perfumed air, a 15-speaker Burmester 4D sound system, and thermal cupholders. The Maybach mode uses data from an oscillation sensor under the rear seats to control the dampers in a way that prioritizes comfort for rear passengers. The price is expected to be over $185,000.
