Homeless woman kills shelter coordinator with ax in Vermont

A homeless woman, Zaaina Mahvish-Jammeh, has been accused of using an ax and knife to kill the coordinator of a Vermont homeless shelter, Leah Rosin-Pritchard, in front of horrified workers. Mahvish-Jammeh purchased the ax from a hardware store before requesting a meeting with the shelter coordinator, and used the ax to strike the victim multiple times in the shelter's living room. She pleaded not guilty to murder and remains jailed. A mental evaluation has been ordered for her.

Delta passenger detained after opening emergency door and deploying slide at LAX

A Delta Air Lines passenger was detained at LAX after allegedly opening an emergency exit door and deploying the inflatable emergency slide as the airplane prepared to take off for Seattle. The man was taken into custody and later taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation. The incident is being investigated by L.A. Airport Police and the FBI was notified. Passengers were asked to exit until they could be placed on a later flight.

A passenger on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Seattle was detained after allegedly opening an emergency exit door and sliding down the emergency slide as the plane was preparing to taxi. The passenger was taken to a local hospital for a mental evaluation. The Seattle-bound plane eventually returned to its gate and all other passengers were rebooked onto a different flight.
