Yosemite National Park to Close Due to Flooding from Melting Snow

Yosemite National Park will be closed from Friday to at least May 3 due to melting snow causing flooding in the area. The park experienced snow levels at more than 300% than usual this past winter. Visitors who booked reservations for lodging and campgrounds during the closure will receive a refund, and wilderness permits can be rescheduled. Some areas of the park will remain open, but no visitors will be allowed east of El Capitan crossover.

San Joaquin County Braces for River Danger and Erosion Fixes.

Evacuation orders have been issued for Airport Court in Manteca and Haven Acres Marina in Lathrop due to hazardous water levels in the San Joaquin River caused by melting snow. The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office warns that if water levels continue to rise, emergency responders will lose access to affected areas. Residents in those areas have been contacted directly by the sheriff's office, and there are currently no issues with any of the county's levees.
