Mets stage late comeback to defeat Nationals.
The New York Mets broke their four-game losing streak by edging out the Washington Nationals, 9-8, in a slugfest at Citi Field. The Mets came back from a one-run deficit in the bottom of the eighth inning, with Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil hitting crucial doubles and triples to secure the victory. Third baseman Brett Baty also had a standout game, going 3-for-3 and hitting his first home run of the season. The win gives the Mets much-needed momentum as they face the first-place Braves in an important four-game series.
