Newly named members of Mayor-Elect Donna Deegan’s executive staff in Jacksonville, Florida, will receive salaries ranging from $85,000 to $275,000 per year. The salaries are comparable to those of current positions in the mayor’s office. Some are questioning the creation of new positions, such as Chief of Public Safety, but the appointee, Lakesha Burton, says her job will target different areas than the sheriff's. Melissa Ross, a radio host, is leaving her job to become Director of Strategic Initiatives & Liaison to the Press.
