Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has won the Maxwell Award, recognizing him as the most outstanding player in college football. Jeanty, who set a Boise State record with 2,497 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns this season, is the first player from a Group of 5 school to win the award since 1990. He also won the Doak Walker Award for the top running back and is a contender for the Heisman Trophy, to be announced soon.
Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has been named the 2023 Maxwell Award winner, given annually to the best player in college football. Penix's outstanding performance led the Huskies to an undefeated record, a Pac-12 Championship win, and a College Football Playoff appearance. Despite his achievements, Penix remained humble and credited his family for their support. He will continue his journey in the CFP Semifinal against Texas on January 1.
