Notre Dame Strength Coach Matt Balis Abruptly Resigns Ahead of Fall Camp
Notre Dame's director of football performance, Matt Balis, has resigned for "personal reasons" one day before the start of fall camp. Balis, who has been with the Fighting Irish since 2017, was praised by head coach Marcus Freeman for his contributions to the program. Associate director of strength and conditioning, Fred Hale, will serve as an interim replacement. Despite Balis' departure, Notre Dame has had a successful run under his tenure, with multiple 10-win seasons and College Football Playoff appearances.
