Charges Filed for Transporting Stolen Masters Memorabilia
A man has been charged in federal court in Illinois for transporting stolen Masters golf tournament merchandise and memorabilia worth millions of dollars from Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia to Tampa, Florida. The items were taken from the golf club and other locations between 2009 and 2022. If convicted, the accused would have to forfeit any property and cash obtained from proceeds traced to the stolen items. Augusta National has not commented on the matter, and it is unclear why the case was filed in Illinois.
