Phil Mickelson's Career-Saving Performance at Masters 2023.
Phil Mickelson finishes second at the 2023 Masters, his best finish ever for a player age 50-plus, after skipping last year's tournament and facing criticism for his involvement with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf. Mickelson's return to Augusta National was met with a somewhat icy reception, but he surprised everyone with a Sunday charge, shooting a 7-under 65, the lowest round in Masters history by a player over 50. Although he held the clubhouse lead, Jon Rahm would not relent, and Mickelson settled for second place. Mickelson will now return to the LIV Tour, where the paychecks are massive but the crowds are not.
