Markus Burton, a 6-1 Notre Dame recruit, has been crowned 2023 IndyStar Mr. Basketball during the Indiana High School Sports Awards show at Butler University’s Clowes Hall. Burton, who averaged 30.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.3 steals per game, ran away with the Mr. Basketball vote, garnering 171 votes to easily outdistance runner-up Xavier Booker of Cathedral, who had 20 votes. Burton scored 2,273 career points to rank No. 20 on the state’s all-time scoring list.
