Wintergreen Officer Fatally Shot, Suspect in Custody
A Wintergreen police officer, Mark Christopher Wagner II, was shot and killed while responding to an emergency call about an assault. Three others were injured during the incident. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and is being treated for a non-life-threatening injury. The investigation is ongoing.
