"Alabama Marching Bands Battle for Metallica's $180K Prize"

Three marching bands from Alabama, including Auburn University, Cleveland High School, and Pell City High School, have been named finalists in the Metallica Marching Band Competition, competing for a total of $180,000 in prizes. Over 450 bands nationwide entered the contest by submitting YouTube videos of their performances of Metallica songs. The winners, chosen by Metallica themselves, will be announced in January 2024 and will receive musical instruments and equipment for their school programs. The contest also includes fan favorite categories, with online voting determining two additional winners.

The NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade returns for its 262nd edition after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic. The parade will be televised nationally and internationally through NBC 4 New York and will highlight the issue of food insecurity in the city and the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. The parade will start at Fifth Avenue and 44th Street and will include elected officials and a variety of bands and other groups. Spectators can watch along Fifth Avenue from 48th Street to 55th Street.
