The University of Michigan ice hockey team clinched their NCAA-record 27th all-time appearance in the Frozen Four with a 2-1 overtime win over Penn State in the Midwest Regional Final. Sophomore Mackie Samoskevich scored the game-winning goal just 52 seconds into OT. Junior goaltender Erik Portillo made 31 saves in the victory. The Wolverines will face Quinnipiac in the Frozen Four semifinals on April 6th.

Michigan's hockey team advances to the Frozen Four for the second straight season and an NCAA-record 27th time after beating Penn State 2-1 in overtime. Sophomore forward Mackie Samoskevich scored the game-winning goal 52 seconds into overtime. They will face Quinnipiac, another No. 1 seed, on April 6 in Tampa. The Wolverines tied the game in the third period with a power-play goal from freshman Adam Fantilli. Goalies Liam Souliere and Erik Portillo made 41 and 31 saves, respectively.
