Sabres edge Devils 2-1 as Thompson shines in NHL return
Tage Thompson scored and added an assist, Peyton Krebs helped with a goal and an assist, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 27 saves as Buffalo defeated New Jersey 2-1 in the NHL’s return from the Olympic break. Buffalo improved to 33-19-6 and remained in the top wild-card spot in the East, while the Devils, who got a late goal from Timo Meier and 28 saves from Jake Allen, fell to 28-28-2.
