The MLS Players Association (MLSPA) has released its 2023 Spring-Summer Salary Guide, featuring salary information for all MLS players under contract as of April 30, 2023. Xherdan Shaqiri leads the way and overtakes Lorenzo Insigne for the top spot. The guide contains players’ current annualized base salary and their annualized average guaranteed compensation.
Xherdan Shaqiri of Chicago Fire FC has become the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer (MLS) with a total guaranteed compensation of $8.15 million, followed by Lorenzo Insigne of Toronto FC and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez of LA Galaxy. The average guaranteed compensation for the entire player pool has increased by 12% to $528,984. Toronto FC has the highest payroll with $25.74m in guaranteed compensation, followed by LA Galaxy and Atlanta United.
