"Adopting Littoral Regiment Tactics: Lessons from Guadalcanal for Pacific Allies"
The US Marines' littoral-based war-fighting concepts developed to counter China in the Pacific are being adopted by Pacific allies, who are training alongside Marines in new ways to detect, target, and strike enemy naval vessels. The Marine littoral regiments, purpose-built for littoral combat, are being emulated by military partners and allies in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines. These efforts are aimed at maintaining and magnifying doubt and unease in potential adversaries, with a focus on deterrence and true interoperability.
