Oakland Mourns 'True Hero' Officer Tuan Le, Killed in Line of Duty

Oakland Police Officer Tuan Le, a 36-year-old four-year veteran of the force, was shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a burglary on the 400 block of Embarcadero. The incident occurred early Friday morning, and despite a large police presence and a significant amount of evidence collected, no suspects have been detailed at the time of reporting. Officer Le, who was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and naturalized on September 11, 2001, served as a Community Resource Officer in West Oakland. He is the 54th Oakland police officer killed in the line of duty, and his death has prompted a strong response from local and state officials, including Governor Gavin Newsom, who has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Officer Le.
