Patriots' Jack Jones Cleared of Weapons Charges Ahead of Season Opener
New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones has had his weapons charges dropped after moving up his court date and agreeing to a deal. Jones will serve one year of pretrial probation and 48 hours of community service in exchange for the charges being dropped. The Suffolk County District Attorney stated that it couldn't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Jones had knowledge of the firearms in his bag. Jones' attorney said he is grateful to have the case resolved and is looking forward to playing football. While he may still face punishment from the NFL, this resolution gives Jones a better chance of avoiding being cut by the Patriots.
