Aurélien Sanchez Conquers Barkley Marathons with Cheeseburgers and a Nap
Aurélien Sanchez becomes the first Frenchman and 16th competitor to complete all five loops of the Barkley Marathons, one of the hardest foot races in the world with a 99% dropout rate. The race, held annually in Tennessee, consists of five loops of around 20 miles each, with no phones, GPS trackers, course markings or aid stations. Sanchez slept for only 15 minutes in the three days and two nights he was on the course and fueled himself mainly with cheeseburgers. The race exposes a runner's weaknesses like few others.
