Gun experts have fired live bullets inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, to re-enact the 2018 mass shooting for a lawsuit brought by families of the victims. The re-enactment aims to gather evidence regarding the school security officer, Scot Peterson, who stayed outside during the attack. Acoustics and ballistics experts used the same high-caliber rifle to fire live bullets into a safety device from the same part of the building where the attack occurred. The audio evidence collected will potentially be used in the civil case against Peterson, who was cleared of criminal charges in a previous trial.
