Bally's Corporation announced the closure, with plans for a "state-of-the-art integrated resort and ballpark" to take its place. The closure will impact around 500 workers, most of whom are part of the Culinary Union, and severance packages are being offered. The Oakland A's are set to move to Las Vegas, with a new ballpark expected to open in 2028.
