PacifiCorp found liable for causing Oregon wildfires, ordered to pay millions in damages.
PacifiCorp has been found negligent and ordered to pay nearly $72 million in damages by a Multnomah County jury for its role in four Labor Day wildfires that devastated Oregon in 2020. The jury found the company grossly negligent and reckless, awarding the 17 named plaintiffs $4.4 million for economic damages and $67.5 million in non-economic damages for pain and suffering. The company may face an even larger sum if the economic award is increased or if the jury adds punitive damages.
